In last week's screen cast Dr. G posed an interesting question, "what is the difference between scaffolding and job aid." Scaffolding and job aid are both incorporated in the instructional design process to assist the learner to accomplish a task. Although, both have similar qualities, they differ concerning the goal, task independence and support. I thought a Venn Diagram would explain the relationship between scaffolding and a job aid, because they share similar qualities yet differ in its capability. Below is my understanding of the similarities and differences of scaffolding strategy and job aid. Let me know your thoughts!

Hi Minae,
ReplyDeleteI really liked your understanding of the differences between scaffolding and job aid. You created the Venn Diagram by yourself, didn't you? I think that the keywords procedural and mastery are enough clarifying the point to me. Are you going to use scaffolding or job in your project? What kind of job aid are you going to create for job aid assignment?
Thank you so much for your explanation.
Best,
Remzi
